MP DAN MAZIER VISITS PHILIPPINE CONSULATE GENERAL

Toronto, 02 June 2023 – The Honourable Dan Mazier, Member of Parliament representing the riding of Dauphin-Swan River-Neepawa of Manitoba, visited the Philippine Consulate General to discuss with Consul General Escalona and consulate officials a number of issues affecting Philippine-Canada bilateral relations including concerns of Filipino community in Manitoba, immigration, and trade and investments.

The Honourable Mazier, who is the Vice Chair of the Canada-Philippines Parliamentary Friendship Group, noted the presence of a large number of Filipinos in Manitoba and requested the Consulate’s assistance in bringing consular services closer to them.

Consul General Escalona said that she intends to visit Manitoba in the near future to meet the Filipino community and explore possible areas of economic and cultural cooperation with the province.

The Honorable Mazier took time to visit the Consulate’s processing area where he had the opportunity to talk with some of the Consulate’s clients. (END)

In line with the celebrations for the 125th anniversary of Philippine Independence, the National Historical Commission of Philippines (NHCP) has chosen “Samot-Saring Iisa” by Ken Charcos as the official theme song for the commemoration. The song highlights and promotes the values, struggles, victories and ambitions of Filipinos as a nation. It also emphasizes inclusiveness for the celebrations, not only commemorating events that happened in Luzon but also highlighting the struggles faced by the Visayan and Mindanao regions. The Filipino Community is encouraged to play the song during their Philippine Independence Day and Philippine Heritage Month activities.
